Dr. Wexner is currently the Director of the Digestive Disease Center and has been on Staff at Cleveland Clinic Florida since 1988. He has been the Chairman of the Department of Colorectal Surgery since 1993. Dr. Wexner holds academic appointments as Affiliate Professor at Florida Atlantic University, Clinical Professor at Florida International University, Affiliate Professor of Surgery at the University of South Florida, Professor of Surgery at Ohio State University, and Affiliate Professor of Surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.

Dr. Wexner is currently a Regent of the American College of Surgeons and President of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons Research Foundation and has previously served as the President of the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery, President of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, and President of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.

Dr. Wexner received an Honorary PhD from the University of Belgrade. He has been honored as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Scotland, an Honorary Fellow of the European Surgical Association, the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland, and of the European Society of Coloproctology, in addition to 23 additional honorary fellowships in many countries around the world.

Dr. Wexner has given a combined 2,041 lectures in 58 countries and his publications include 675 manuscripts; 249 textbook chapters; and 33 textbooks/journals. He is also an editorial board member of 38 peer reviewed journals and Editor/Associate Editor of 73peer reviewed journals. Dr. Wexner also holds numerous patents and has licensed and sold intellectual property to facilitate and improve surgical outcomes.
